Listen to Alfie Templeman start a “new chapter” on London-inspired new single ‘Beckham’

Alfie Templeman has ventured into a “new chapter” with his summery new single ‘Beckham’. Check it out below.

The track is the latest single to be shared from the London-based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer and performer’s upcoming album ‘Radiosoul’

The LP marks his second studio album, and the follow-up to his 2022 breakout debut ‘Mellow Moon’. It is set for release on June 7 via Chess Club Records/AWAL Recordings, and has already seen singles including ‘Hello Lonely’ and ‘Eyes Wide Shut’.

Now, with just over two weeks until the full album drops, Templeman has shared yet another teaser from the LP. In ‘Beckham’, the singer-songwriter combines his signature breezy vocals with a catchy chorus and slick groove.

“The chorus of this song is the list of places I was looking to move houses to in London,” Templeman said of the inspiration behind ‘Beckham’. “I moved for the first time in my life in the summer of ’23, which was really exciting, but the days counting down to moving out really felt like the realest and most dignifying moments of my life. It felt like a whole new chapter had started.”

As for the album as a whole, the project is set to see the multi-instrumentalist join forces with cult producer Dan Carey – whom he describes as a “dream to make music with” – and see Templeman push his boundaries further than ever before.

While still maintaining the sense of optimism and feel-good energy seen on ‘Mellow Moon’, with the new LP, the singer is set to showcase more maturity in both his sound and subject matter.

“What he addresses with ‘Radiosoul’ is the struggles with social media, feeling knackered by touring, learning to deal with anxiety and panic attacks, and moving out of your parents’ house – all while you’re also still trying to figure yourself out,” reads a press release.

“There’s an exciting energy that gets captured when you don’t know what’s coming next. Every song is intentionally different from the last. It’s about the weird and the wonderful, the big, bright, bursting moments and the quiet, raw, reflective moments,” he said of the album.

“Back when I started out, what really excited me was using music as a way of documenting my life. Each EP felt like a little diary entry, taking the last half a year of my life condensed into a few songs. This album really reminds me of that, but this time it looks back at my whole life.

“I finally feel a little more confident about fighting the darkness that will inevitably lurk around from time to time. This album is about turning 20: entering a new decade of your life and figuring out how you guided yourself to where you are now even if you don’t really know how.”
